Leelan is a young Djabugay man who has grown up in Kuranda FN QLD Australia. He has children with his partner and lives in Kuranda.
He has a beautiful strong mother behind him as well as the support from his family and community. He has been working with the Blakrobats for many years as a cultural artist partner to a young dynamic woman Kelly: who has committed herself to training a performance act that can go any where in the world.
The Djabugay families have a commitment to their young children being part of this acrobatic act. They have performed publicly in the Wallaby Creek Festival; Kuranda events & at the Land & Sea Conference in Cardwell in 2007.
Many of the Mona Mona weavers have their grandkids in the Blakrobats.
Leelan is a young focused and passionate Ambassador for his Djabugay people. He deserves all their respect.
In 2006 Leelan came as a circus skilled teacher to Thanakupi's 17th children's holiday program up in Weipa Cape York. With Stuart from Okka Wikka: they took classes in the Napranum Youth centre with the PCYC and out at Bawtjethi with the kids. Leelan was part of a community artists team in a dynamic and creative holiday program for all the children in Weipa.
