KOCA MASTER weaver
Rhonda Brim carries one of the last active continuums of traditional aboriginal weaving on the east coast of Australia
She weaves traditional Djabugay rainforest grass, lawyer cane, Pandanus & black palm baskets etc
Since 1984 she supported her Grandmother Wilma Walker in running a weaving installation at the Laura Dance Festival
2000 Rhonda was an Australian Cultural ambassador to the Pacific Festival of Arts - New Caledonia
Rhonda teaches culture at her Mona Mona Homeland Cultural Centre with a KOCA program " Keeping Our Culture Alive "
Rhonda is a leader in her own right with many commitments to many committees: all to do with empowering her people in Kuranda and to keeping their culture alive
Rhonda was a formative Djabugay elder who packaged the cultural material for 'Tjapukai Tourist Park Cairns"
She developed the Djabugay language program with Rhonda Duffin & Michael Quinn. Both Rhonda's taught Djabugay language in schools for 6 years
Rhonda is a Traditional Owner for the Djabugay land from Davis Creek to the Cairns Estuary
