Urub Trust weaver
Wally has been an international ambassador for his Djabugay culture. As a Dancer and Teacher for many years he has travelled all over the world
He lives at Mantaka with his wife Delvine and their 6 children
Wally has great kindness and strength when teaching his culture. He takes the indigenous high school boys one day a week at the Kuranda High school teaching cultural practices. Wally joined the Bi Cornial weaving classes with Abe Muriata and being skilled with his hands found he could do it with delight as his ancestral basket. Wally has a photo of his great grandfather sitting in a BIYU making one of these baskets
Wally has stood by his mother and grandmother in everything that they are doing with the development of KOCA at Mona Mona. His bush men's skills come from the deep knowledge that Rhonda's father gave them all. They walked the forest tracts constantly as children: just as Wilma Walker and her brothers walked the 2 days from Mossman to Black Mountain when they came to visit the family at Mona Mona
